Payment and Pricing
Tuition is $1,200 per student annually, which breaks down to about $26 per lesson for 46 lessons. Tuition is charged monthly at a rate of $100, regardless of whether a month has 3, 4, or 5 lessons. Payment is due on the 1st of each month. If you're unable to make the payment by then, please contact me—I'm always happy to work with you on accommodations. However, if no communication is made and payment is not received by the 10th, a $5 late fee will be applied to the account.
The curriculum and materials needed will be provided to the student. We charge an onboarding curriculum fee that covers the cost of materials and the first few books. This fee varies depending on the curriculum the student will be using. Our current accepted payment methods are: online through the student portal, cash, check, Venmo, and PayPal. Other forms of payment may be arranged upon request, based on individual situations and at the sole discretion of With Sail and Anchor Studios.
Cancellation / Reschedule Policy
Please inform us in advance if the student will not be able to attend a lesson. If 24 hours' notice is given, you will have the option to choose a make-up lesson from the available time slots. Only one make-up lesson can be issued per month, and only one make-up credit can be in the student's account at a time. If less than 24 hours' notice is given, a make-up lesson will not be provided. We do not issue refunds for missed lessons or for late arrivals.
If the student would like to discontinue lessons, please let us know. If the student misses two consecutive lessons without communication and we are unable to reach you or your emergency contact for those two weeks, we will mark the student as inactive and reopen the time slot for someone else.
If you'll be away for more than two weeks in a month (e.g., summer break), you can notify us in advance, and we’ll hold your spot for a fee of $13 per week (half the cost of tuition), instead of paying the full monthly tuition. If you prefer not to pay the fee, we’ll open the spot to new students and, upon your return, offer you a new spot if available. If all spots are taken, you'll be placed on the waitlist. If a lesson is canceled by the teacher, at no fault of the student, the cost of the missed lesson will be refunded as a positive credit toward the next month. We have these cancellation policies in place; however, your efforts to communicate and keep us in the loop will go a long way, and we will always do our best to accommodate accordingly.
Vacation Policy
We take approximately 6 weeks off for vacation each year. We do not issue makeup lessons or refunds for the vacation weeks we take off, as this is included in the cost of tuition. These vacation weeks include:
Practice Policy
The student must own a piano or keyboard to take lessons with us. As an old proverb says, “Teachers can open the door, but you must enter it yourself.” When it comes to learning an instrument, the amount of time each student spends practicing determines how quickly they will learn and how proficient they will become. Students should set aside uninterrupted time each day to practice.
Recitals
We typically hold two recitals per year, during which each student has the opportunity to celebrate their progress by playing a song they have been working on. Families and friends are all welcome to attend. We do not charge a recital fee; we simply want families to participate and enjoy the experience.
Tuning
If your student plays on an acoustic piano, it is important to keep it tuned regularly. With Sail and Anchor Studios offers piano tuning services if needed—just give us a call.
